The trip to the Amazon Jungles in Peru was truly an amazing experience. We stayed at an Eco Friendly Resort with no electricity, wireless or Internet service. We need torches or lanterns at night and slept in hammocks in log cabins!!!
On day one we trudged, for what seemed like hours, through flowing red clay in the forest to get to Lago Sandoval so we could get on a canoe to see different birds, butterflies and animals. Ofcourse, we then had to trudge all the way back.... We also did a boat ride in the Amazon at night to see all the creatures that come out in the dark - definitely not something for the faint hearted!!!
My biggest thrill was doing the Canopy Walk in the Amazon. The canopies are at least 140 feet off the ground and can have only one person on them at a time ( you got to balance it just right or you can tip the canopy bridge and go spiraling down) I am proud to say I did all the 8 stations. It was, literally, quite the high.
The cuisine in Peru was different and quite delicious - my favorites being Lomo Saltado, Inca Kola and Pisco Sour (the national drink)
This is one trip I will never ever forget.
